Can Drive 2

Hey everyone,

Please don't forget to bring canned food items to church this Sunday for donation to First Christian Church's food kitchen. This is a way for us to minister to those less fortunate this holiday season.

Of course, these are non-perishable items, small-can food items that we need. Thanks!

Prayer Requests

For those of us who know the Gore family:

Jeff's fight is finished. God welcomed him home early this morning, with Lori by his side. Praise God that Jeff has been made perfect and is receiving his reward.
Please continue to check this site, as we will provide information on services for Jeff as arrangements are made. I will also have some information on an opportunity to help leave a written legacy for his family.

Also:
Please issue a prayer request for Pat Ray and Jim. Pat is going into the hospital tomorrow, Wednesday the 18th, for a lung biopsy. She is a member of FCC that many people know.

Let's lift these families up!

Just got this prayer request from Jan,

I have no idea what any of your relationships are with Susan, but I know none of us are going to live forever and I wanted you to be aware (if you aren't already) of what Susan and her family are going through. Love is all that matters. Any and everything else apart from Jesus Christ and that love, pales in comparison. We have this minute, this heartbeat, this breath, and that's IT as far as this life goes, potentially at any moment in time.

She has a web site at caringbridge.org. She had surgery in August and was diagnosed with bladder cancer and it was Stage 3 with cells outside the bladder. Yesterday, she received word that a spot on her lungs was Stage 4 metastatic lung cancer from her bladder cancer.

I know there are lots of other people who would want to know & extend their love and caring to her, whose email addresses I don't readily have. I trust each of you will let those know who would earnestly care.

Love to all & God bless, Bev Pruitt~

Prayer Requests: Jan Abernathy and Stephen, Sydney, and Harrison.

Just got this email update from Amber:

Her [Jan's] surgery went great, she came home around 3:30 and has been asleep, she’s had some chicken broth soup and seems to only be sore. However, Rebecca called earlier to relay some news, Stephen, Sydney and Harrison have the Swine flu, and they have been quarantined to their house until Tuesday.

Please pray for Stephen, Sydney and Harrison as well as Jan.

Prayer Request

I just received this from Sharon Freeman:

Please put on blog for all Castle Christian – my first cousin, Joel Simmons, passed away last night. I am just so grieved. He was only 49 years old and his wife and 3 girls are beside themselves. Also his brothers and sister as they lost their mom (my Mothers’ sister) just a few months ago. I was so hoping Joel’s age would put him in position of fighting this off. I am convinced it was swine (H1N1) flu, because he had flue like symptoms 6 weeks ago, and proceed to be diagnosed with pneumonia, then put in ICU and on ventilator and all his systems shut down. He has lived in Minnesota the last 4 years so I feel so helpless and far away. I need to request prayer for his family.

Let's pray for all of Sharon's family in dealing with this grief.

Prayer for Alan Whigham

Just got this from Debbie:

Thanks to all who have been praying for him. They did the surgery on Tuesday to remove his gall bladder. They were planning on keeping him for overnight to make sure everything with his heart and blood pressure did ok. As soon as they started the surgery his heart rate went up to 166. they got that under control and were able to remove the gall bladder.

I ask everyone to please keep praying because he wasn't able to come on Wednesday and as of 7pm Thursday night they have put him back in ICU because his blood pressure and heart rate are not wanting to cooperate.

He is still in Northside - Forsyth in ICU room 2016.

Thanks again for all your prayers and please keep praying.

Let's keep them lifted up in prayer!

Bible Study

I mentioned last week that we would be taking a break from Bible Study for a while. Circumstances necessitate that I make that break an indefinite one for now. I apologize to those who benefit so much from our studies (like myself!), but I am simply not able to continue this at present.

Will keep everyone updated. Thank you.

Thanks to Everyone

Many thanks to so many of our church number who have endeavored to reach out to me and my family in our recent personal crisis. We have definitely felt loved and cared for by so many. Thank you for withholding judgment and loving all of us regardless. You all are truly the body of Christ in our community.

This has been, personally, the most terrible and testing experience of my life, and I must assume that my children are suffering the most. This has been awful, there is no other way to say it.

The events of today (Monday) have brought with them further difficulties. Because of my own emotional and even physical state this week, I have asked Kevin Slatton to preach for us this Sunday. He has agreed to do so. He always does a great job and I believe he will lift us up this Sunday.

I beg your continued prayers and support as we endure this set of circumstances. I pray for grace and forgiveness for me and Stacie as we work out the details of our issues and make the most difficult decisions.

We will keep you updated. Thank you.

In Christ,
Jason

Prayers for the Sick in our Congregation

Hi everyone,

Let's try to keep everyone who's sick in our congregation in our prayers. There are quite a few.

Also, I got this from Debbie Whigham:

Please keep Alan (My Husband) in your prayers. He had to be admitted into the ICU last night at Northside-Forsyth Hospital. His heart rate was very high and his blood pressure almost non-existing. They found he had infected gallstones and that one might be blocking a duct in his liver causing him to be jaundice also. they do not want to do surgery because he is a high risk patient, so they are trying to treat the infection with antibiotics. Please pray for a speedy recovery! I will keep you updated.

Thanks everyone!

Marge Beihler's Mom

Just got this from Trish:

Marge Bieler was just visiting her mother at a hospital in New Jersey and asked for prayers that her mother is comfortable. She believes she has only a short time before she passes from this world. She mentioned that she was able to share her love for Christ and pray with her mother's roommate, a young very sick alcoholic woman. Please keep the two of them in your prayers. Thanks, Tricia

Ben Abernathy Update

Jan just sent this to me:

We just got home and it appears that he has a rather large (5-7 mm) kidney stone. It is poised just above the bladder and they are hoping he will go ahead and pass it in a day or two. He’s asleep right now as the pain meds are doing their job.

Let's keep praying!

Suzanne Campbell's Mother

Hey everyone,

Just heard from someone that Suzanne Campbell's mother passed away this morning. Let's be in prayer for the Campbells.

The family is requesting that any donations to be made are made to Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Will give more info when we have it.

Prayer for Ben Abernathy

Just got this message from Jan:

Could you get word out for prayer support for Ben? I’m taking him to the ER with pretty severe abdominal pain. My guess is it’s either a kidney stone or appendicitis. Would appreciate some prayer though.

There's a lot of stuff going around. Let's pray for one another during this difficult time health-wise.

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

Hey everyone, just got this from Trish. Let's pray for Mikey and the whole Earhart family! Also everyone be careful; they're saying that the flu could affect a lot of people this year.

Today Mikey was diagnosed with Type A flu, which his pediatrician and pharmacist are saying is 95% likely to be the Swine Flu. So, everyone in our house including Kim because she was with Mikey at the dentist this morning have been put on medication as a preventative. Mikey is pretty much in quarantine. He is generally strong and in good health and we had him to the doctor and on medication within 24 hours so we expect a full recovery. Please keep our family in your prayers with special attention to Mikey, Kim because of being pregnant, and his Grandmother that lives in our home because she is elderly. The symptoms were bad cough, headache and fever. Also, Mike's brother, Timmy found yesterday that his two daughters were also tested positive with the same symptoms. All our love, The Earharts

Today's Message and Theme

Hey everyone, just a couple of quick updates on what happened today at CCC, for anyone who could not be there...

This Sunday we took a break from Matthew to concentrate on our church in a message entitled "State of the Church Sunday." We focused on what the church is supposed to be and why we do what we do. We also heard from our Shepherds, Ben Abernathy and Omer Umberger, on the immediate financial challenges before our church. The message closed with a challenge for us to continue working on being more Christ-like and to reaffirm our commitment to BEING this radical kingdom community.

The message from today is available to listen on our podcast on directly from our website.

Unfortunately, Ben and Omer's section of the message could not be recorded. But if you were unable to make it on Sunday, we'd like you to know what they talked about. Please contact Jason, Ben, or Omer via phone or email for more info!

Let's all commit to continue to pray for and support our church and look forward to all the great things that God is going to do through Castle Christian Church! Thanks!

Prayer for Suzanne Campbell's Family

Got this forwarded from Dick and Doris today. Let's pray for Suzanne's family and for the Campbells...

Hey guys
Suzanne went to Miss thursday to be with her mom. Her mom (Eleanor Craven) is in the hospital in Meridian in CCC.
She has rallied some, but is not in good shape at all. All 5 children are with her and we are sitting on GO should we need to go on over.
If you see this before church, please ask for prayers. I'll let you know should there be any changes.

Love y'all

Larry

Very Important

If you were unable to attend service today, you really need to listen to the podcast. This link should take you there: http://castlechristianchurch.blogspot.com/. The podcasts are to the right, under the prayers and praises. They play in Windows Media Player...

Also, William Flynn was unanimously voted by the congregation as our newest Servant Leader.

Cleaning House

I have an E machine PC that someone can have. It is kind of slow but it works and we have used it for school when we had more kids at home. Anyway, it's time to get rid of it. Do you think you can put something on the blog to see if anyone wants it. It's an E-machine 333cs. I have a keyboard and monitor (yucky one) as well. If you think you would like it, let Trish Earhart know and Mike will bring it to church for you Sunday

Bowling!

Just got this from Janet Otts:

I spoke with Stars and Strikes and they have room for more teams for the Thursday Night Bowling League. The number of weeks is for 16 weeks starting with the first game on Thursday, August 13 at 7:00. The First League meeting is Thursday, August 6 at 7:00.

It would cost approximately $15.00 per person per week and run for 16 weeks. We must have at least 4 people to bowl every Thursday night, but it doesn’t always have to be the same four. We can have alternates. If we have enough people interested, I would be more than happy to make up a schedule or if we have enough people that want to commit to bowling every Thursday, then we can have the alternates as stand-bys in case one the regular folks has a conflict. Or who knows, we may have enough to make up two 4-person teams!

Contact Janet Otts if you are interested!

Prayer Request

Just got this message from Jan Abernathy.

Hi all,

I just hung up the phone with Brooks Schoolcraft and he asked for prayer for Sherri. She is in the hospital there because she began losing blood somewhere in her GI tract. They haven't found the source of the blood loss yet. She has had two blood transfusions and an endoscopy (a tube down the throat into the stomach. It was negative).

She will be in the hospital until she is stablized. They plan a colonoscopy on Monday. Brooks promised to keep me informed, but asked that prayer be in place ASAP.

She is at in room 753 at:

McLeod Regional Medical Center
555 E Cheves Street
Florence, SC 29506-2606

843-777-2000

Please keep her in your prayers.

God bless,

Bible Study Break

Hey everyone,

Just a note on the Wednesday Night Bible Study.

We've experienced some lower numbers recently, due to changes in people's schedules, summer travel, etc. So, for the next few weeks, we're going to cancel the Bible Study and take a break.

HOWEVER, we are planning on doing a special study when we get back on the concept of Faith and Faithfulness, specifically, what does it mean to have the kind of biblical faith that we read in the heroes of the Bible, but in our context?

As the time approaches, we will be giving more information about dates, topics, etc. But be looking forward to an enlightening study of the topic of Faith!

This is from Kathy Umberger:
We are having Ann Carey from HomeAid Atlanta in the service Sunday the 28th to tell a little about HomeAid and talk about our work day for the money we raised. We will also present her with a large cardboard check for a photo shoot so we encourage everyone to be there Sunday...and bring a friend or neighbor.

Bible Study CANCELLED

Hey everyone,

Just a quick reminder:

Next week my family and I will be out of town. We are leaving this Saturday in the AM.

Of course, Nathan Holmes, our Youth Minister, will be bringing the message this Sunday. Let's pray that he stays healthy this year--but for him and his family, not just for our own sake!

This means, however, that we will need to cancel the Wednesday Night Bible Study next Wednesday, the 24th of June.

We will be back Sunday the 28th!

Later!

Prayer Request

Just got this heart-rending request from Lindsey Holmes:

I would REALLY appreciate it if you could add this to our ongoing prayer list and the blog. I know we have some pretty amazing prayer warriors and this family would really appreciate to just be bathed in prayer. They are some friends of ours from our home church.
This is an email sent out by the woman's parents....

Thanks a million,

Lindsey

To our family and friends,

Thank you to all of you who have been praying for our daughter Casey. We ask you to keep the prayers coming because we have received very grim news regarding her condition. The final pathology report indicated that she does not have the type cancer they originally thought, but has metastatic melanoma. This is by far the worse case scenario as far as types of cancer she could have. The tumor was not the primary cancer site, so now the search begins for where the primary is located. She had her first visit with the oncologist yesterday and he could not locate any site on her skin, so she went for two scans today and will have another on Tuesday. The survival rate for this type of cancer in women 25-35 is very slim and we could be looking at a few months or a few years. Once she has finished with all the follow-up appointments we will know more about treatment options, and will keep you informed.

We are, of course, asking the Lord to provide a miracle so that our two granddaughters, Grace (7) and Anabel (4) will not have to grow up without their mother, and we will not have to face the unthinkable of losing our only child. Casey has asked that if God does not choose to give us a miracle, she would ask that everyone pray for years rather than months. She wants to live long enough for Anabel to remember her.

At this point we are just trying to digest the information, so would ask that you allow Casey and Michael time to do that. Also, the children do not know what is going on yet, so pray for wisdom about what and when to try and explain to them what is going on. We also ask for strength for all of us as this will be a difficult journey for everyone.

So where do we go from here.....would you believe Disney World. Casey is determined that we follow through with a long awaited and much anticipated trip leaving on next Friday (June 19). Thankfully, both Michael's mother and I were planning to go along, so we will be able to help with the children. Casey wants to make this a trip the girls will remember for the rest of their lives, so we are putting on our happy faces and our Mickey ears and forging ahead as if everything was normal.

Please keep us in your prayers. Casey's future is totally in His hands now. Thank you, Tim and Toni

Coffee and Clean-up

I was working with the toddlers Sunday...so I didn't know if there was an announcement about coffee and cleaning up.
There is NO ONE signed up for June or July to make coffee on Sundays or to pick up and empty trash. It can be a team...and it doesn't have to be the same person to do both.
Kathy Umberger organizes the volunteers, so please contact her if you can help. THANKS!

Softball TOURNAMENT

Well, softballers...it's that time again. After a season of ups and downs, it's playoffs time.

Our team is scheduled to take on CiCi's Pizza on June 1 (a week from Monday) at 6:45 PM. IF we win (and this is the team we DID win against this year), we will be playing AGAIN at 7:45.

Ironically, there actually IS a fairly good chance that we could pull off a win, so it will be best if everyone who is able to make it can come--because those of us who play the first game may not survive a second!

Again that's June 1, starting at 6:45 PM. Also, that's Tricia's birthday!

Later!

We are expecting some people to be unavailable, so we will need all the men and women who are available to come ready to PLAY!

Thanks!

Karen Turner called last night. The father of Tara's boyfriend, Jack Gordon, found out this week that he has multiple cancerous kidney tumors and will have to have his kidney removed on May 26th. Karen wanted us to lift this man up in prayer.
Also, my friend from school, Rene Ellington, is going through some very painful times with Lupus, arthritis and some other issues they still have not identified. She is in constant pain, and asks for our prayers that they will be able to find a course of treatment to release her from so much pain. Thank you.

Prayers

Avon Connelly just called to say she and Bud are driving to Birmingham, AL today for the funeral of her niece (Theresa Goodson) who passed away on Saturday after a long illness.

Prayer Request

Just got this from Debbie Whigham:

"We just found out today that my step-grandson, Cole Dent (Alan's grandson) was on a trip in Orlando last week with the boy from Henry County that tested positive for the swine flu.
The Health System for Henry County notified Alisa, Cole's mother, to let her know he had been exposed. It was the school that Cole attends that has been closed this week. Please keep Cole and our family in your prayers."

Thanks, everyone!

Men's Retreat--Change of Venue, but STILL ON!

Hey all you guys going on the men's retreat. I got a call from Ned yesterday saying that the cabin we went to last year had some issues with water (in that it has no water) this past week. It is being repaired this weekend.

Fortunately, we've been able to find another place to go. It is another cabin, a closer location. Contact Ned Wolfe for more details.

This one has electricity AND a hot tub!

We are still planning on leaving about 6:00 on Thursday. Should be a great weekend. The theme is "A Weekend with James." We'll be studying the book of James, specifically James' teaching on "double-mindedness."

Later!

DISREGARD last post!

Hey everyone,

I sent out a post yesterday saying I needed to cancel Bible study this week. That was an ERROR. I need to cancel it NEXT week (the 29th).

I know this is going to confuse things more--and it's all my fault! Sorry.

Again we WILL be having Bible study this Wednesday (the 22nd). We WON'T be having it next Wednesday (the 29th).

Sorry for the confusion.

Bob Hollifield

Judy Ware sent me this announcement:

Please let everyone know that Bob Hollifield (FCC member and Diane Babb's brother) passed away this afternoon. Funeral arrangement are pending, but he will be going to Northside Chapel in Crabapple.

Also received this update from Lorie:

John Roberts will have his first surgery today to repair his pelvis. The set up is what takes the most time. They have to line up two ct scans of some sort and then run a wire and then once it is straight they bolt on both sides. It has its risks we will not concern with as this has to be done.

Let's keep praying!

Prayer Request

Just received this prayer request from Lorie Short:

Please pray for John Roberts. He is our friend Jane Roberts' stepson. I'm not sure how old he is, but he is married with 2 daughters. He had a terrible dirt bike accident on Sunday, and needs lifted up in prayer right now!

Here are some other particulars:

He was riding on a trail different than the one his buddy was riding and somehow he had an accident and another rider found him unconscious and called 911. He was airlifted to Floyd Medical in Rome and then to the Atlanta Medical Center. He has brain injuries, a couple of fractures in his neck, a shattered shoulder, three broken ribs (the top ones), a broken sternum, a broken pelvis, and some bleeding in his brain and his intestine. He is married and has two daughters.

Let's agree in prayer for John.

Softball Game

Well, it was another close one last night. Our Castle Christian Church Mercy Rules lost by a narrow margin. The final score was 23-1 (narrowness is relative, you know).

Of course, there were a lot of people who couldn't make it out last night due to lateness or other issues, so we were a little shorthanded. Thanks to everyone who came out and braved the late night and impending weather. Thanks to Christine Poisson who filled in in the outfield--we wouldn't have been able to play without you!

We're looking forward to an early game next week--6:45, I believe!

Go MERCY RULES!

Moving Reminder

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to remind everyone who volunteered to help us move storage units. We're going to be doing that THIS Saturday at 1:00 in the afternoon. We're needing as many pick-up trucks and backs as we can get to move out of our storage unit.

Let's plan on meeting at the church and then driving over to the storage unit at 1:15. Please let me know if you are still available to help with this.

Thanks!

EASTER SUNDAY!

Well, today's Easter Service went very well! Thanks to the worship team, our special musicians, and everyone who helped put together Castle's first double service.

We counted 136 total, not including those who were at both services!

Thanks again, everyone!

HELP!

Just got a couple of messages from Nathan and Lindsey Holmes. Apparently the storms hit at their house pretty hard last night and they are in need of some assistance.

There are some branches and trees down and the Holmes are going to need a chainsaw and a few backs to help clear it out.

Thanks!

Prayer Request for Bill Turner's Family

Hey everyone,

Karen Turner emailed to ask us to pray for Bill's family. Apparently, Bill's nephew (in his 20's) passed away on Wednesday. Bill, his mother, and sister will be driving to Florida tomorrow (Friday) to be with family as the body is cremated.

Let's agree in prayer for Bill and his family in the face of this tragedy!

Thanks!

Cross Walk FINAL Update

Hey everyone,

Don't forget to be at the parking lot across from Goodson Drugs downtown at 4:00 tomorrow (rain or shine)!

Also, we are still having some people turn in sponsor money. Great! However, we want to have all sponsor money turned in to Cathy Schmidle by the 19th of April so we can cut the check to HomeAid.

See you Friday!

Moving Storage Units

Hey everyone,

We need a few backs and pick-up trucks! Currently we have some of the church's supplies in a storage unit and we're going to be moving those to a building over on Keith Bridge Road.

With 3 or 4 pick-up trucks and trailers and 5-6 people to help load, we should be able to get it all moved in one trip. I'd like to get this set up for the Saturday AFTER Easter (April 18).

If you can help and have a truck or trailer OR if you can just help, please let me know by replying to this email. For now we'll plan to meet at the church at 1:00 Saturday the 18th.

Thanks!

Cross Walk Meeting Review AND EASTER Sunday

We're getting closer to the cross-walk event. Just in case you couldn't be at church for our meeting, here are the main points:

1. Even if you didn't raise the $30-$50 to participate in the cross-walk, you may still participate!

2. Be sure to be at the parking lot across from Goodson's Drugstore (the Tyson parking lot) at 4:00 Friday afternoon.

3. The tent will be set up all day, come out anytime and join us!

4. We'll be handing out information about the church and the cross-walk all day

5. We will also be distributing bottled water to our walkers--we still need someone who can drive a truck with the bottles of water to certain points along the path. If you can do this, please respond to this email.

6. We'll be having a short devotional service following the walk (approximately 6:30).

7. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes as well as a white shirt or one of our cross-walk T-shirts!

ALSO, we need to get an idea about which church service you're coming to, please respond to this email if you are planning on going to the earlier (9:00) service.

Thanks!

Cross Walk Update and Meeting

Well, one more week until our Cross Walk event. Hopefully you've been able to collect as much sponsor money as possible and you're gearing up for a life-changing day!

We did want to inform everyone though, that several people have had a lot more luck finding sponsors than others. If you have not been able to collect $30 or $50, there is enough overflow from those who've collected more that you will still be able to participate. Again, IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO COLLECT THE FULL AMOUNT, YOU MAY STILL PARTICIPATE IN THE CROSS-WALK!

Please be prepared for a short meeting after church this Sunday to give instructions on where to meet, and other details.

Thanks!

Softball WIN!

Well, I have some exciting news! Your Castle Christian Church softball team, The "Mercy Rules," won its game against Cici's Pizza tonight! The final score was 13-3. No, I'm totally not kidding.

I won't go into a ton of detail about the game itself, but let's just say there is plenty of fairly positive sermon material.

But, on a personal note, I learned a tough lesson about not slapping people high five when they're running down the third base line. It's against the rules. I promise not to do it again.

It was a great game and everyone played really well! Go team Mercy Rules!

Cross Walk Update

Hey gang, the Cross Walk is getting closer. Be watching this week for updates on what is happening.

ALSO, please be finishing raising funds this week! Talk to neighbors, friends, coworkers, etc.!

We'll be having a short meeting after church this Sunday to give instructions on where to meet, and other details.

Thanks!

Castle Christian Church Good Friday Cross Walk 3

Hey Castlers, this is a NEW emailed post to forward to friends. BY THE WAY, even if you're NOT planning on participating, you can still help us raise funds! ALSO, sending this out more than once may remind some to donate! (just erase this line before you forward)

Greetings!

There are only a few SHORT WEEKS before EASTER!

You've probably already heard about our Good Friday Cross Walk event. In fact, some of you have already donated. If you have, THANK YOU!

I want to share some more details with the rest of you that might help you:

Of course, our desire with this event is to help families who have lost their homes due to the difficult economy. We want to reach out, to share God’s love with hurting people. So, on Good Friday, we’re going to humble ourselves and carry a cross to help hurting families to bear their burden with them, to share the love of Jesus for them.

Home-Aid is an organization devoted to providing safe temporary housing for newly displaced families until they can get on their feet. Our Cross Walk is designed to raise funds (from corporate and individual sponsors) to give to Home-Aid’s effort and to raise awareness for the need for a chapter in Forsyth County.

Ar 4:30 in the afternoon on Good Friday, we’ll start at the Fairgrounds in downtown Cumming, taking turns carrying our cross for 3.5 miles. At the end of our walk, we’ll stop to worship and remember Jesus’ beautiful and excruciating sacrifice...but we’ll also look forward to celebrating his resurrection—that singular victorious Easter event which provides our ultimate hope from the struggles of this life!

What I’m hoping is that YOU will sponsor ME in this cross walk and help people who are being displaced in this difficult time. Simply click this link to DONATE online. When you have the opportunity to dedicate your gift, simply type in the words “cross walk” and enter my name.

You can ALSO support us by check. Simply mail your donation to Castle Christian Church, P.O. Box 925, Cumming, GA, 30028. Please note that it is for the Cross Walk and the name of the person you are sponsoring.

Also, I'd like to invite you to come to church with us on Easter Sunday! Go to http://www.castlechristian.com for details on our services.

Daylight Savings Time Weekend

Hello everyone,

Just got a reminder from one of our Servant-Leaders that this weekend is Daylight Savings Weekend. This means on Saturday we're "springing forward" an hour.

Please remember to set your clocks forward an hour on Saturday night. Church on Sunday could be really sparse if we forget!

Here's a website giving more detail about DST: http://www.webexhibits.org/daylightsaving/b.html

Softball Practice

Calling all Softball players:

Because the weather is going to be so great this weekend, it's been suggested we take advantage on Sunday and bump practice to 2:30 in order to allow us to get a scrimmage game in. Of course, practice is at Central Park.

Especially after the heartbreaking, nail-biting narrow loss on Monday, it's clear that a little practice might just put us over the edge for the next game! ;-)

Please contact Mike Freeman or Trish Earhart if you can't make it at that time. Otherwise, see you after church on the diamond

Beth Ann Amos Update AND Prayer for Lorie Short's Family

Hey gang,

I got a call from Mike Amos a little while ago and Beth Ann's surgery was a SUCCESS!!! They were able to successfully implant the rod in her bone and remove the apparatus outside of her leg. As I understand, she is more comfortable now and should heal fine. This is very good news!

I also got an email from Lorie Short. Her aunt Virl passed away last night. She was sick with Alzheimer's for some time and went through some very difficult times at the end of her life. The funeral for her will be this Thursday and Lorie plans to attend. Let's pray for her family (2 daughters, 1 son, 6 grandkids, 1 great-grandkid) and for Lorie's safe travel.

Beth Ann Amos Update

Just got this from Diane:

"We met with the trauma ortho surgeon today... he thinks he has an 80% chance of successfully placing an internal rod in Beth Anne's leg which will be a HUGE improvement. The surgery will be at 9:15 Tues. morning at N. Fulton. He expects that Beth Anne will be able to go home Wed. Please pray that the surgery will go well, that God will use the doctors hands to His purpose, and that we will see Him at work through all this. Thanks!"

OH...and your Castle Christian Church softball team suffered a devastating defeat. The final score (I think) was 19-0. However, the score doesn't reflect how close the game actually was (I'm not sure what that means, I've just always wanted to say it). The GOOD news is that this is a massive improvement compared to the final score of our first game LAST year!

Thanks everyone!

Beth Ann Amos Update

Hey all,

Just got this message from Diane Amos. They thank everyone for the prayers.

While doing P.T. putting down a telephone pole type log after it was over their heads (5 work together) the group lost coordination and dropped the log on Beth Anne's leg. Both bones were broken between her knee and ankle. We had her transferred to N. Fulton to be seen and operated on by a ortho dr. we knew and trusted. During the surgery, while putting in the rod the bone shattered. He placed a metal plate on each side of the fragments, bolted the plates into the bones above and below the fracture and connected the bolts to a fixation device outside her leg. We see a trauma ortho specialist Monday and will probably have another surgery Tuesday.

Thank you for all your prayers... that's what we need most now. Pray for guidance in how to proceed with care, for complete healing and for direction in what to do regarding school and the future... also to see God's LOVING hand in all this (it's kinda hard to see sometimes).

Let's work harder at keeping them in our prayers!

Hey softballers,

Just got a note from Trish that our first game is at 6:45 this coming Monday (March 2). The game is at Central park. We need to be there by 6:25 to get the roster set up.

For our non-players--we'll need plenty of fans in the stands!

Thanks!
