Reading List Updated AND Link Problem

Hey everyone,

I updated the reading list again. However, I'm having some problems with the Bible website I was using to look up the passages. It appears there is a limit to the number of times I can look up references in a specific translation and it isn't letting me use the TNIV or NIV anymore. I'm not pleased with that, so I'm not including links to the passages this week. If you're following along the reading list, you'll have to do it the old fashioned way this week until I find another solution.

Thanks to Kevin and Kyle for covering for me the past two Sundays. I am looking forward to preaching again this coming Sunday!

Could you get it out that Lindsey is on her way down to pick up Nathan. Meals will begin tonight and continue on the schedule that was in place previously. Delivery 5:00 - 6:00 unless someones schedule necessitates differently. WooHoo! Homecoming!

Thanks,

Nathan Update - 6/25/08

Castle Christian Church family,
Lindsey told me today that Nathan has continued to improve. He may be eating solid foods tonight and if all goes well he may come home tomorrow. They have to see how well he handles the food. He got to see Luke today which of course really lifted his spirits. Lindsey sounded in much better spirits herself.
Any teens that would like to go up to Nathan and Lindsey's house and do some yard work Sunday afternoon, see me at church or email me for details. I plan on being there at 3:00.
Keep up the prayers for Nathan, Lindsey and the kids. Thanks for everybody's help with supporting them.

UPDATES FROM EMILY AND BEN

Hi Ben,
I just got off the phone with Lindsey. She said Nathan is doing much better today. He even ate a Popsicle. Depending on how he continues to progress, it is possible that he may come home Sunday. Lindsey asks for prayers for the kids to stay well and for Nathan's healing. She needs your prayers too. She said Kroger cards or gas cards would be a big help.

Emily

Continue your prayers for Nathan and this family. I am going to take 2 ($100.00 worth) cards from the church allotment and take to her. If anyone has Kroger Cards or wishes to donate money to purchase more cards to replace these or send directly to Lindsey , please let me know. I'll get it from you and get it to Lindsey ASAP.

Ben

POOL PARTY

The youth are having a pool party at the Earharts this evening from 6:30 to 8:30. Kyle will be there (standing in for Nathan...).
Sorry for the late posting....

Nathan & Lindsey Update from Emily

I talked to Lindsey today. Nathan is not allowed at this time to have visitors. He is recovering a little slower than they had hoped for. He is still in a good deal of pain and he has asked for prayers for relief from the pain, peace and comfort, quick recovery, financial aspects. Lindsey needs prayers too. She has a lot to handle between the kids and being with Nathan as much as she can. I have offered to help out with the kids. At this time her mother is helping her. Sunday afternoon, I am going to ask the youth to meet at their house to do some much needed yard work. I haven't found out what would be the best time for Lindsey. We don't want to interfere with the kids' naps. I will asked her tomorrow and I will announce it at youth group Wednesday night.

Thanks for your help.

NATHAN UPDATE - 6/23/08

To the Castle Christian Family,

It has been brought to my attention that Lindsey is going to need help with gasoline costs while Nathan is in the hospital. If anyone has Kroger cards they have not yet given out, please consider giving it to Lindsey. Our benevolence funds may be needed to help with medical bills later.

Also, Betsy Hightower is lining up meals for them. If you want to help, you might let her know. Emily is also organizing the teens to get Nathan's yard work done. Again, let her know if you can offer any assistance with this.

I'm still trying to reach Lindsey to see what we can do to help them through this. If any of you have talked to Lindsey and know of any need they have, please let the rest of us know. OF COURSE, DON'T FORGET TO PRAY FOR THEM.

Nathan is at Northside Hospital Forsyth in room 404, but I don't know that he's up for visitors yet. I'm sure a card would be appreciated though.

Love to everyone,

Ben

NATHAN UPDATE

Hi all,

Ben and Shaun just got back from the hospital. They were unable to see Nathan as his room is posted with a no visitors sign. However, they were able to speak with Nathan's sister.

He had just gotten back from surgery and they removed 7 inches of his small intestine. It was horribly infected and inflamed. They anticipate that he will be in the hospital at least until Friday, possibly longer.

Pray for him and love to all -

Jan

NEWS!

Hey gang,

I have a couple of items to update you on. First of all, Nathan began having some health problems earlier this week in the location of his appendectomy. He's been on pain medication and antibiotics, but they haven't been able to help. The last few days he's run fevers of 103 degrees. Today he called and told me he is being admitted back to the hospital for tests and a possible surgery to remove the abscess. Remember to pray for him this weekend!

Since my family is leaving tomorrow for vacation, Nathan was scheduled to preach this Sunday. He, obviously, won't be available this weekend--but hopefully he'll be available for next weekend. Fortunately, we are blessed with several people who are well-trained and experienced preachers who could easily fill in at a moment's notice. So I wasn't worried about whether we'd have a preacher for this Sunday.

Again, there were several people who could have delivered a great message, but since our intern, Kyle Stock is here doing his internship with us in preaching, it seemed fairly natural to ask him to fill in this Sunday. He is scheduled for a few weeks in July, also.

I hope everyone has a great experience this Sunday and next week. As it turns out, we may be getting in earlier than expected next weekend and may be available to worship with our favorite church (Castle, of course!), even though I won't be preaching that Sunday!

Take care!

Reminders

Hey gang,

I just wanted to shoot a couple of reminders out there for everyone. First, Stacie and the kids and I will be out of town the next two Sundays. Nathan will be preaching those two days and Kyle will be taking over Tuesday evening Bible study. He led the discussion last night and did a fantastic job.

Also, traditionally Summer is a weird season for church attendance. People take vacations and mini-trips and this affects church attendance. This can't be helped and is to be expected on some levels. However, I want to encourage you all to continue your faithfulness in evangelizing your neighbors, inviting them to church, and being a witness in your community. Castle Christian has been a successful church plant largely because of the faithfulness of her members in reaching out to those around them. In order for us to continue growing and succeeding, it takes all of us continually moving forward and pushing the envelope toward a dynamic evangelistic ministry!

Take care everyone!

Updated Reading List and New Additions to the CCC Family

Hey everyone,

We had a GREAT worship service today, but the best part was when Westley and Barbara placed membership with us! Everyone remember to congratulate them next time you see them!

Also, I've updated the reading list for the next two weeks since I'll be gone next weekend.

Take care!

Nathan update 2

I just talked to Nathan this morning at about 9:45. He is awake, minus one appendix, and feeling much better. Apparently, he didn't get into surgery until after 11:00 last night (typical hospital timing).

They made a small incision in his abdomen, near his belly button. In order to see clearly they needed to inflate his belly with CO2. He said that is currently the only uncomfortable thing.

As of now he feels well enough to join Lindsey in Atlanta this weekend for the wedding they are participateing in. He told me that if he doesn't feel well when they release him after 11:00, he may make other plans.

Thanks for all the prayers!

Great Video

Jan Abernathy sent this video out to everyone today and it was so good I thought I'd blog it. Check it out:

Nathan update

I just got another call from Nathan. He DOES have to have surgery to remove his appendix this afternoon or this evening. Lindsey is performing in a wedding and is out of town with the kids.

It sounds like the surgery will be arthroscopic (is that correct?) and will not be as invasive as appendectomies have been in the past and he may even be released tonight. However, as Kevin Slatton told me today, the only minor surgery is one that happens to someone else, so this is still not a fun day for Nathan.

Nathan is trying to decide whether to travel this weekend and be with his family, or stay in the area for the weekend. He'll probably be fairly sore in the aftermath, so please pray for him!

I'll update you all as soon as I know more.

Jason

NATHAN in HOSPITAL

Hey everyone,

I just got a call from Nathan who is right now in the hospital in Cumming. He had some abdominal pain this morning and went in. He will be having some tests done at 1:30 with the purpose of deciding whether or not to have his appendix removed.

Please pray as he may have to have surgery today!

We'll try to notify everyone of any news.

Jason Vacation

Hello Church,

I just wanted to fill everyone in on our schedule for the next few weeks. Stacie and the kids and I will be going on vacation from the 21st to the 29th. While we're gone, Nathan will be preaching and Kyle, our intern, will be taking over Tuesday evening Bible study.

Also, Kyle's internship requires him to do some preaching while he is with us. He and I will work together to prepare some sermons and he will be preaching twice in July and once in August.

This will be the first time since we've been with CCC that Nathan has had the opportunity to preach on Sunday morning. I'm looking forward to hearing what he and Kyle have to say!

God bless,

Jason
