Updated Reading List and New Additions to the CCC Family

Hey all,

There is a lot to announce this week, so keep checking your email for updates this week from the blog. Here are a few quick notes that I remember the details for:

First and foremost, we want to welcome the Slatton family as members of our church! Kevin Slatton placed membership for himself and his family today. They are already an important part of who we are and we re thrilled they have officially commited to be members of our body!

Second, I've updated the reading list on the blog. Don't forget to check off your progress on the survey.

More to come. I know there are other things I need to tell you, but I can't remember them all right now for some reason...stay tuned.

Shepherd and Servant-leader Vote AND Men's Retreat

Hey all,

Just wanted to give you a reminder about the Shepherd and Servant-leader vote this Sunday. We'll be voting on whether to accept the recommended list of leaders nominated by the church and endorsed by the Trustees and ministers. That list is as follows:

Shepherd:
Ben Abernathy
Omer Umberger

Servant-leader:
Todd Hess
Sherry Lizotte
Tricia Earhart
Larry Campbell

I feel confident that these people will serve well and will help us as we continue to grow in the Lord.

I also want to remind you GUYS about the men's retreat coming up. As I understand, there are still slots available. This will be a great weekend for fellowship and prayer. See Ned for any questions about location or cost.

Thanks!

Easter Egg Hunt Reminder

Hello Castle Folks,

I wanted to send you all a reminder about the Easter Egg hunt and picnic this Saturday. We will have it at West Bank Park. It will run from noon through about three o'clock.

We have many eggs and a lot of candy, so bring your kids (of all ages). In fact, bring your neighbor kids, too!

Also, don't forget about the cross-raising on Friday around 3:00.

Thanks!

Another Request and Bible Reading

Hey,

A friend of Kevin Slatton, Nita Stone in Montgomery, AL, has just found out that her cancer has returned. Please pray for her!

Don't forget that you can log on to the church website and click "Prayer Requests" on the left side to see who is on the list currently. You can also submit requests on that page.

Also, don't forget to keep up on your daily Bible reading!

Thanks!

Prayer Requests

Hey everyone,

I got a call from Nathan a little bit ago. Many of us know the family of Butch Large. Unfortunatley, his family reported that he was admitted to the hospital and has been in a coma today. His condition is such that the doctors believe he may not survive the day. We'll have more details to come, please keep his family in your prayers. If you have questions, contact Nathan.

Please keep Christine Ware, mother of Elease Dowling and mother-in-law of Judy Ware, in your prayers also. She received a very negative diagnosis today as well and has been moved to the same nursing home/rehabilitation center that Barbara has been in, in Gainesville.

Thanks!

Friday Afternoon

Hey everyone,

I realized that not everyone knew what I meant by "Friday afternoon" in one of the earlier posts. The county has agreed to allow us to put a permanent cross in the grass outside of the church. We're putting it up around 3:00 Friday afternoon.

Reading Schedule Error

Hey everyone,

I just sat down to do my nightly reading and noticed that I repeated the last day's reading of last week for today (Sunday). If you noticed that, too, just mark that you did the reading for today. It is easier than trying to correct each day.

Barbara, Bible Study Cancelled, and Friday

Hey everyone,

Just a quick note on a few things. First of all, after church on Sunday (Mar 16) I visited the Chapmans. Barbara has been pretty sick again and could use our prayers. Not sure exactly what is going on.

Second, we're going to be doing some work on the worship area this week, so Bible study on Tuesday (the 18th) will be cancelled. Sorry!

Don't forget about the special on Friday afternoon. I realize a lot of people have to work, but if you can make it out for that, it should be a meaningful moment.

Updated Reading Schedule

Hey everyone,

The Bible reading schedule is updated for this week on the blog. Don't forget to keep track of your progress daily by clicking the survey underneath the reading each time you finish a section.

If you haven't started doing the daily reading, I highly recommend it! It is the best possible habit to get started, and the reading is not really heavy. Usually 3-4 chapters a day is all that is required to keep up. Also, I've already looked up the passages on a really great Bible website, so all you have to do is click each day's reading and it will automatically open up to that passage.

Short-notice Clean-up!

Hey folks,

A few of the musicians on Thursday were noticing that our facility could use some "sprucing-up," especially with Easter coming next week. There will be some people meeting tomorrow (Saturday, March 15) from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. I know several who cannot be there, but if you think you can, they could definitely use the help.

Email me at jason@castlechristian.com if you have questions.

Thanks!

Softball Pics

Hello fellow Castlers,

Hannah emailed me some pics from Monday's softball game. You can see a few of them here. To see the rest, go to the gallery at our website.

Enjoy!

Candy Reminder

Hey everyone,

This is just a quick reminder to make sure to bring some candy this Sunday for our Easter egg hunt next weekend. We need a lot of wrapped candy (tootsie rolls, chocolates, etc.) to stuff into plastic Easter eggs next week.

Let us know if you have any questions about the Easter egg hunt. This should be a fun outing for our church family.

Also, don't forget to keep up with the daily Bible reading on the blog. We have a few people keeping track of their reading, and a few more just doing their reading. If you've always wanted to read through the Bible, this is a very simple way to do it.

In Christ,

Jason

Easter Candy and Car Help

Hey everyone,

Two things: we're planning a special Easter-egg hunt for March 22, the day before Easter. We're buying eggs, but we need lots of candy to stuff them with. We're looking for pre-packaged types like Tootsie-rolls, Hershey Kisses, Hershey Miniatures, and M&M's, etc. Please bring bags of candy this Sunday, if you can!

Also, there is a young couple in our church who's car has broken down beyond repair. They're looking for someone with a spare car they could borrow. If you can help in some way, please let me know by emailing jason@castlechristian.com.

Thanks! Don't forget to check the blog for the daily Bible reading and to mark your progress each day on the online poll.

Billy Update, Bible Reading Reminder, and the Castle Softball Team

Hey Castlers,

I went to a meeting for Christian Church ministers in Union City today where Dr. Billy Strother spoke. The meeting was good, but it was better to see Carol and Billy. He is doing much better now. The last skin graft was successful and appears to be healthy. He is using a machine called a bone-generator, which apparently helps the bones to heal. It looks like he'll have a minimum of two more surgeries and then several months of rehab. All in all, I think it has been good news for them lately.

Several people are participating in the Bible reading schedule on the blog. I just want to remind you that you can keep track of what you've read by clicking on the poll under the schedule.

Our softball team scored a total of four runs on Monday, thanks to a run late in the final inning. We struggled a little bit before that, allowing our opponent only 24 runs. So, we were beaten soundly, but not skunked. I'd call it a moderate victory!

Keep Track of Your Daily Reading

Hey everyone,

I wanted to mention an addition to the blog. On Saturday, I added a feature which will allow people to do a daily Bible reading. Underneath the reading schedule is a "poll" which will allow you to click when you've completed a day's reading. When you've completed a day, click that day on the poll and "vote." The next day you can change your vote and click the days you've completed.

Bible Reading Schedule

Hey everyone,

As I said earlier this week, my goal was to provide a weekly Bible reading program. I've placed a weekly schedule on the blog which I'll update every Sunday afternoon. this week's schedule starts tomorrow.

You'll be able to go to the blog and on the menu on the right you'll notice the schedule. Each day's readings are links to a great Bible website. I've already looked up the passages for you in the Today's New International Version.

I hope this is helpful for those of you who are interested in doing a daily Bible reading. If we keep this up, by this time next year we will have read through the entire Bible together!

Let me know if this helps or doesn't help. You can email me at jason@castlechristian.com.

See you Sunday!

Jason
