Debbie Whigham's Husband

Just got another update from Debbie:

I just wanted to take the time now to say thanks to all my friends and family for your prayers for Alan. His cardiac cath showed 1 blockage of about 50% but the doctor wants to treat it with medication and not surgery. Praise to God! Please keep him in your prayers for a speedy recovery so he can go back to work. (Going back to work would lift his spirits greatly.)

Please continue to pray for my grandson, Jeremiah. He has had another seizure and is now waiting to have an EEG done.

Thanks and praise to God for your prayers and friendship,

Debbie Whigham

Debbie Hicks' Husband

Debbie gave me an update about her husband:

Alan's blood work came back good and Dr. Reddy wants to do the cardiac catheterization Thursday morning at North Fulton. We should be there around 6:30am. Everyone please prayer that all goes well and a speedy recovery will follow.

Thanks - Debbie

Also, don't forget the secret Santa family. We are looking for plenty of gift cards for a family that can really use the assistance. And we need those by this Sunday.

Thanks,

Jason

Secret Santa Family Reminder

Hey everyone,

I just want to send a reminder about our Secret Santa family. As was announced on Sunday, due to the nature of things this year, we are going to be giving the Secret Santa Family gift cards. They can use gas gift-cards, grocery gift cards, and Wal-Mart/Target type cards. Obviously Kroger cards and Wal-Mart cards can be used for both.

This is a family with GREAT need who can use our help. Let's bless them this year!

BTW, I don't know who the elf pictures are...it's not me, though.

Special Message Reschedule for This Sunday

Hello Church,

I mentioned a few weeks ago that we had a special guest coming on Dec. 7 to share with us during the message. Unfortunately, my friend got very sick last weekend and could not make it. However, THIS weekend, she is much better and will be able to join us! I'm very excited to share her ministry with you all and it will be a great illustration of the kingdom concept in Sunday's message. Please don't miss it!

Cookies with Santa on December 13th!

Our 2nd annual Cookies with Santa event is coming up THIS SATURDAY, DECEMBER 13 FROM 9 TILL 12, but we need your help. Below is the e-card that we would like for you to forward to all your friends and family, co-workers, fellow professionals, print it out and put it in the break room...you get the idea. We really want to let people know who we are and what we are about, this event is a perfect opportunity to do so. So will you forward this e-card on to as many people as you can so we can grow our church? Thank you in advance for your support. If you want to get involved, please contact Nathan to do so. We'll see ya there!!!

Acoustic Tradition and Cookie Correction

Hey all,

Lorie asked me to remind everyone that the band Acoustic Tradition (Lorie Short, Judy Ware, Tim Ware, Cheryl Turner, Paul Turner and Jan Abernathy) are leading the praise and worship this Sunday. This should be GOOD!

Also, the blog post I sent out a few days ago said to bring cookies tonight (Thursday). I wrote that because I'd thought I'd heard someone say on to bring them on Thursday. But there is no praise team practice tonight and there WAS no plan for anyone to be there. That's my misunderstanding.

SO...if you did buy cookies, can you bring them on Saturday morning? If not, let me know and we'll work something out.

Thanks!

Jason

Let's be praying!

Correction!

In a recent post, I mentioned that Debbie Hick's husband was in need of prayer, but I called him Alan Hicks. That was incorrect, his name is Alan Whigham!

My bad!

Change in Plan for this Sunday

Hey church,

I have been planning for weeks to have a special guest tomorrow (Dec 7). However, the person who was coming in has become dreadfully ill this weekend. I am trying to reschedule her to come next week, but we will have to wait and see.

So this Sunday we won't have our special presentation.

Alan Hicks Update

Got an update from Debbie today:

Thanks but here is an update - they could not do his cath today because his blood work was not good. They were afraid they would not be able to stop the bleeding or that his kidneys might shutdown from the contrast dye. He has to change some of his meds for a few days and have more blood work done on Tuesday. If all is better then he may have the cath next Wednesday or Thursday. Please have everyone keep praying up to and thru those days. I will keep you posted. Thanks!! Debbie

Let's agree in prayer for Alan.

Debbie Hicks' Husband

Judy Crafton Prayer Request

Hey all,

Judy asked us to pray for her daughter:

Please pray for my daughter Charla, who is having surgery today. She has several problems, all of which could be serious, but the most problematic is a cyst the size of a grapefruit that can be seen on a sonogram from the pelvic bone to the navel. She will be in surgery starting at 10:00 this morning.

Let's agree in prayer for her!

Cookies with Santa

Would you please send out a blog asking for folks to donate cookies for the Cookies with Santa Saturday? We need a variety of homemade cookies and if folks don't have time to make homemade cookies, we would appreciate a variety of store bought Christmas cookies. The cookies need to be brought to church this Sunday and on Saturday (12/13) morning by 8:00 a.m.

Thanks!

Special Message December 7

Hey everyone,

As you all know we've been in Matthew for nearly four months now. This Sunday will mark the 15th message we've done in Matthew. I have been thrilled to get this in depth in this important Gospel.

However, I am even more excited now. On Dec. 7 we are starting the Sermon on the Mount with a series on the Beatitudes of Matthew 5. I'm telling you this because I have something very special planned for the 7th which I think will illustrate what this Kingdom of Heaven thinking is all about.

Please mark on your calenders to be with us on Dec. 7 if possible. I think we'll find that it isn't disappointing!

Thanks!

Jason

Thanks!

This came through from Debbie via various routes to Jason, who asked me to post it here.....

I am emailing all of you to ask you to pray for my husband, Alan. We went to the er on Friday morning and he was admitted to the ICU with congestive heart failure. His blood pressure was extremely high (at one time it was 198 over 183). He could not breathe. They have since moved him into a room today but his cardiologist says his heart is still real weak. Please pray for a speedy recovery for him. In case you would like to send a card or something, he is in Northside Forsyth Hospital in Cumming GA in room 3025. Thanks for your prayers and love to you all.

Mike Amos and Linsdsey Holmes' Father Update

Hello everyone,

Just got this update from Mike Amos: "Just want to pass along my thanks to everyone who has prayed for and supported us. It's great to be a part of the family of God. :)

I am back home and, all things considered, I am doing very well. Although I did have to undergo a second surgery to fix the complication, it turned out to be relatively minor. I continue to covet your prayers as I recover over the next few weeks.

Mike"

Thanks to everyone who prayed and supported the Amos's throughout this ordeal. Let's keep praying for his recovery.

Also, I got a call from Nathan today. Apparently Lindsey's father is very ill and fading quickly. If I remember correctly, it looks like problems with his liver. She is trying to take care of his estate and other issues right now. It is a very difficult time for Lindsey, let's be praying for the Holmes' family AND extended family through this.

Tuesday Night Bible Study

Hey everyone,

Just a note about Tuesday nights. We had been planning to move to Wednesday nights for two reasons, 212 Student Ministry was changing its format and that would leave Wednesdays open to us 3 out of 4 weeks of the month. AND, I have two ACC classes starting next week, one of them meeting on Tuesday nights.

However, I had not taken into account that we have some who have changed their work schedules around in order to come on Tuesday nights (such devotion!). Therefore, rather than switch to Wednesdays, we're going to cancel Tuesday night Bible study for 5 weeks (starting next Tuesday), while I complete this course.

That would mean no Bible study on the 17th, 24th, 1st, 8th, and 15th. We'll analyze the Christmas schedule at that time and figure out when to start back up.

BTW, we had a great discussion this Tuesday about the Tabernacle as a model of heaven in Hebrews chapter 8. Very interesting, thanks to all who were there!

Recipe Corner

Someone (OK it was Trish Earhart) made a comment today that since we have so many good cooks and we DO so LOVE TO EAT, we should add a Recipe Corner to our blog. I thought that was a good idea, but so as not to clutter up the church blog, I made a whole NEW BLOG just for all our GREAT RECIPES. Here is a link to it, http://castlerecipes.blogspot.com and I will add a permanent link in the corner of the Castle Christian Blog as well. I started it out with the recipe for the awesome Cranberry White Chocolate Pecan pie I made this morning. I tried to set it up so that anyone can post to the blog directly, but I'm not sure if I acheived that result. If you find you can not post directly in the new Recipe Blog, just email them to me and I will add them.... pafuller2@gmail.com.

Mike Amos Update

Hey everyone,

I stopped by to visit with Mike today and he seems to be doing well. He's up and around and healing from the surgery, though there is still one possible "hurdle to jump through" as he called it.

We had a great talk. The Amos's are grateful for your prayers and all of the food and love you've shown. Let's continue our work to be a blessing as we pray and serve Mike and his family.

Mike Amos Surgery Successful

I got a call from Diane Amos today around 5:00 that Mike's surgery went well and that he is in recovery right now. The doctors reported that they were able to remove all of the cancer completely, and that it was a small amount of cancer.

Diane told me they are feeling very relieved to have had this done. Mike's looking forward to coming home tomorrow. If you'd like to help with meals for the Amos's, please email Stacie at starodenbeck@gmail.com.

Thanks!

Santa Event

Hey gang,

Our ABC group was planning a major event to promote our move--which has been put off indefinitely. Now, we are starting to work with Lindsey and Nathan to promote the Santa event on the 13th of December.

So...we'd like to re-instate our personal invitation list. We'd like you to provide a list of contacts--preferably families with kids--that we can invite. Then we'd get a mailing out to them. Your responsibility would also be to invite them to that event personally.

Please jump on this right away. We need you to email those lists to Janet Otts at jotts52961@yahoo.com this week if possible!

Thanks!

Jason Working from Home

Just a quick note...our daughter, Gracie, has been battling a case of strep throat for weeks. Just as soon as we think we've got it beat, it comes back with a vengeance. She ran a fever last weekend, we took her to the doctor on Monday, and the tests came back last night positive.

I had told a couple of people I'd be in the office today. Unfortunately, because of her strep, I am having to work from home today. If you need me, please email me or call me on my cell.

Thanks!

Tuesday Discussions

Hello again, everyone. Many people have enjoyed our break from our in-depth Hebrews study the last two Tuesday nights as we have watched the video Three Degrees of Separation and held discussions about it.

We've decided to take at least one more week to discuss the topics covered in this video, specifically the topic of abortion and the Christian response. If you are interested in this topic and would like to come, I highly recommend watching the video and coming this Tuesday.

By the way, we're still needing items for the nursery. Please contact me if you can provide any of these:
  1. pack n play sheets
  2. Plug covers
  3. 2 Small shelves
  4. Spray bottles
  5. Laundry bags
Thanks!
