Q & A Sunday

Hey everyone,

Don't forget about the Q & A Sunday coming up on the 8th of February. I have already received some really great questions--questions that many people ask when approaching some of the topics we have recently.

Please feel free to respond to this blog post with questions as well.

Thanks!

Q & A Sunday

Hey everyone,

This Sunday's message on Non-Violence and the teaching of Jesus was a big one. I think many of us are really finding that the teachings of Jesus are a real challenge to the way we see things and the way things work in our minds. This was especially true this week.

I'm planning on doing two more messages in the beatitudes (Jan 25 and Feb 1). After that I'd figured on moving directly into the next passage. But I think it might be a good idea to take a Sunday and do something a little different.

Because of the many questions this week I'd like to do a Q & A Sunday on Feb 8. What this will entail is, instead of a traditional sermon, I want to take some time and field some questions about some of the stuff we've talked about recently.

Here's the plan: because it would be difficult to be adequately prepared for your questions without having an idea what they would be beforehand, I'd like to ask you to submit questions to me in the two weeks prior to this event. I will be providing question submission cards you can fill out at church...OR you can respond to this email with questions.

I will pick the questions that best reflect the thoughts and questions of the whole church and prepare some answers to those. We will also have someone to moderate the questions.

I think this can be a good thing for our church!

Bible Study CANCELLED

Hey everyone,

I need to cancel Bible Study tonight (Jan 20, 2009). I am very sick today and have lost a lot of sleep the past few days.

I'll try to make some calls to make sure everyone who normally comes gets the message and I'll put a note on the door.

Thanks!

Prayer for the Deckards

Hey everyone,

I just received some news that we all should be praying about. Larry and Susan Deckard, our worship ministers, are traveling to Kansas soon to mourn the death of his niece. She was in her early 40s and died very tragically, leaving behind two teenage children. Let us pray for comfort for the family, guidance in taking care of these kids, and safety for Larry and Susan as they travel.

This is a very difficult time for the Deckards and they need our prayers. Larry will be performing the funeral service. It can often be difficult, as a minister, to do a funeral service for a close relative or loved one, so let's be praying for him in that capacity as well.

Thanks!

Misc AND Vision Meeting

Hey Castlers,

It's that time of year again--time for our annual church vision meeting. We'd like to meet with the whole church after church on Sunday the 25th. This meeting will iron out the focus of the next year as well as reflect on Castle's growth in 2008.

Also, Dennis mentioned today that Dick Richardson was suffering from pneumonia. I got a message from Dennis today that Dick is feeling much better and should be ok!

Please keep in mind that we are still needing someone who can help with the coffee preparation on Sundays. We need a volunteer. If you're interested, please contact Susan Eichler by responding to this email. I'll forward anything on to her.

Kevin Slatton's Dad

Hey everyone,

Got this message from Kevin today:

Found out late yesterday that my father has been hospitalized in Birmingham with pneumonia. Could be fairly serious given his other health issues. We need a lot of prayers for him, my step-mom and the doctors.

Let's agree in prayer for Kevin's dad.

See you all Sunday!
