Update on Angel and critical prayer need

Latest news from Trish concerning Angel:

Pressure in her brain. They said they've never seen a brain like hers because of the NF she has sinuses in strange places and they think one was attached to the bone they had to remove and now she has a tube draining fluid from her brain. She's back in critical care but they feel today has been good and are hoping to move her tomorrow to a regular room.

Latest news from Family Promise

And we're off!

On October 3rd, after two years of work & prayers, Family Promised welcomed its first family through its doors. Mom and boys are growing accustomed to their new environment and doing well. Do keep them in your prayers.
Beautifully made beds, with handmade pillows for the boys.

Cumming First United Methodist Church was the first church to host. They have really set the standard high for hospitality and relationship. Host coordinator Debbie Dickey had this to say, "You really grow attached to them. I feel like their grandma." Thank you Debbie for making them feel like family.

We were expecting a shower, but SURPRISE, we got a TUB too!

Meanwhile, back at our day center (The Place), preparations have been set with a new shower/tub and laundry facility. We are so appreciative of Joni and her staff for the warm hospitality they have shared with us all at Family Promise. Check them out at www.theplaceofforsyth.org
Check out that brick work! It's still standing today.

On our first Saturday at the center, the boys and Jacob (our director) enjoyed building a brick 'room' complete with a window. - even Jacob's son joined in on the fun. There was also an impromptu moment of patriotism as all three boys recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Immediate prayer need

From our Laura Dalla. She is stateside, but husband and family are in Haiti. This is the latest from her. Please pray for this sweet community of Christians in Haiti.

Praise the Lord! I was able to talk to Ybene Dalla this morning. He is now really understanding the power of this storm. He, kids, and dog are safe inside the only room without glass windows. They are safe and doing well in this moment. The worst is still to come. They hear things flying around outside and smack up against things. I could hear it too when I called him. There is water coming into our house from under the doors. Especially the door that leads out to the porch. It collects in the porch and is flooding into our bedroom but whatever. If that is all that happens then I will jump for joy. I believe and Angel is sitting on our roof and Jesus is holding them in his arms. I do not know how the rest of the village is. Another missionary in the port city of our island contacted my husband this morning too, so he knows others in the island are thinking of him. Keep praying!!

News from Family Promise of Forsyth County

Family Promise of Forsyth County, Inc. is Opening !!!!

It has been a busy summer.  Since the addition of our last church, the pieces of the puzzle have come together.
  • We have hired our Director, Jacob Granados.
  • We have had two wonderful concerts to help raise funds.
  • Training for the Board of Trustees, Director and Volunteer Coordinators was completed by National Family Promise.
  • The Second Annual Bed Race and Festival was held at Creekside United Methodist Church.
  • With the money raised, and donations (especially one very large donation from Sawnee Woman's Club), we were able to purchase a mini bus from Midway United Methodist Church.
  • Gwinnett County Family Promise "gifted" us with a box van to transport our beds.
  • Thanks to the wonderful "Partnership" with The Place, our Day Center will be at their location.

October 2nd will be the first week we host families, with Cumming First United Methodist Church acting as the Host Church.  We are really excited to finally open the doors to Family Promise of Forsyth County, Inc. and we thank every one of you that have helped make this a reality!

We continue to need your prayers, support and donations as we move forward. We also need your help to spread the awareness that we need more churches to become involved!  If your church is not a Host or Support Church, ask your Pastor "why".  If they would like more information and/or someone to come talk with them, please let me, Lu Leeds, know.  We would love to come and explain the need for Family Promise and why your church should get involved!

Thank you again and God Bless,

Lu Leeds, Chairman, Board of Trustees
