Haiti Mission

Hello everyone,

A student of mine, Laura Clancy, is going on an emergency missions trip the second week of February to Haiti. The group she is going with is a relief group taking over three tons of food in to Haiti to give relief to those who are hurting.

Laura has been to visit our church once before. She is a very missions-minded student who has a passion for our Lord. This is a fairly dangerous mission for Laura, but I've discovered that she is undaunted by that.

She needs, of course, two things. The first is prayer. The second is funds. I know many of us have remarked that we wish we could do something for someone in Haiti, and this is a good way to do it.

If you would like to support her financially, she needs about $1100 to make the trip. I know she has already collected a very small portion of this. Any funds you would like to give I can make sure she gets.

If you cannot support this mission financially, please commit to praying for her and for all of our brothers and sisters suffering in Haiti!

Thanks,

Jason

Prayer Request from Judy Crafton

Just got this message from Judy Crafton, but it is a day old.

My cousin’s husband, Butch Wright, is in the hospital in Chattanooga. He had a heart attack this weekend. They found three or four blocked valves, an aneurysm, and an arch (whatever that is). He will have surgery on Wednesday, but they say it is “iffy”. His wife is a Christian, but I don’t know if he has ever gone to church. Please pray for the family.

Let's pray for the Wrights! (Sorry I missed this sooner, Judy!).

BABY SHOWERS

We have two new arrivals on the way...

Valerie and William Flynn will be having their baby shower after church on Sunday, January 31st. They are registered at Babies R Us and WalMart. They are having a girl.

Rachel Freeman will be having a shower on Sunday, February 7th. Watch for details.

Softball

Softball will be starting back up very soon. It is a co-ed, city league - which gives us a broader opportunity to minister to EVERYONE...Trish Earhart has the sign-up sheets. Contact her for more information.

Spring Cleaning

Sherry Lizotte asked me to communicate this with you all:

The first Saturday of February (the 6th) we are going to have a "Spring Cleaning" day for the church. We will be moving things and doing a thorough cleaning.

One area we will be cleaning will be the stage area. We'll be moving the music equipment, so if you have music equipment there and want to make sure it is ok, you might want to come that Saturday.

We will be starting at 10:15 that Saturday.

Thanks!

Kevin Slatton's Father

Hello, all. Just got a call from Kevin Slatton tonight. His father passed away today. I'm not sure of all the details, but Kevin is in Alabama with his family this week.

Let's remember him and his family in our prayers.

Thanks!

Just got this letter from Kathy Umberger, who received it from HomeAid's Angel Tree ministry.

Dear Kathy,

Thank you so much for organizing a collection of women’s clothing, children’s clothing, books and
toys in support of HomeAid Atlanta’s second annual Angel Tree. Your church members’ generous contribution helped support a local family from Decatur Cooperative Ministry during the holidays, allowing them to receive gifts and other necessities that they would have otherwise gone without.

Please know that the family was extremely grateful and asked that we pass on to you their heartfelt thanks. As you may know, Decatur Cooperative Ministry is a homeless service provider that HomeAid Atlanta has assisted with renovations to transitional housing, serving homeless families in the Decatur/DeKalb area since 1983.

We appreciate your dedication to our mission and to helping those in need. We look forward to
continuing the Angel Tree program in the years to come so that local homeless families can receive the support they need to help them get back on their feet and rebuild their lives.

Thank you again for your generous support.

Warmest regards,
Ann Carey
Executive Director

Bob White Update

Hello everyone,

Please be praying for Bob and Beverly White. Bob was in a serious accident yesterday (Friday) afternoon. He suffered a serious neck injury, breaking two vertebra in his neck. There appeared to be no nerve damage or internal damage, so he should be fine, but is in quite a bit of pain.

Of course, Bob's car was totaled. But he should be coming home sometime Saturday.

Thanks,

Jason
